always show character count in word 2007

hi guys, i was wondering.. is it possible to always show the character counter in word 2007.. in the task bar at the bottom there right next to the word counter cos its a effort to always have to click on the word count to see the character counter...?

The best I can suggest is to add the count to the "quick access toolbar" and to put that below the ribbon. Then at least it is always handy and requires only 1 click. Other than that, there seems to be no easier method, especially since "character count" can mean different things ( with or without spaces, text boxes included or not, etc.).
