Hi

I have the following problem, I want to do a clean install of Windows 7 on my laptop, the problem I have is that I cannot make changes to my laptop because I am asked to enter an administrator password from user account control but cannot because the option of yes is greyed out and when I try and enable administrator rights in command prompt I get the message
Access is denied system error 5 has occurred.this is how command prompt looks like when before I hit the enter key.
C:\Users\Dell>net user administrator /active:yes

I have been looged on in the past as an administrator with a password but now i cannot enable it again !

Any help would be appreciated as I am getting a little frustrated here.

Thanks in advance

Paul

Have you tried enabling the admin account?

right click on MyComputer >Manage >Local users n Groups > Users> right click on Administrator > Properties > Un-check "disable"

THen just log out and log back in under the admin account then you will have all privy to do whatever you like.

However; My initial thoughts are. Why not just boot with the OS disk and install from there? nothing special is required there other than working hardware.
