Is it possible to adjust the ACPI; in particular the heat controls; through the registry? At present I am using NHC and it works super. Prior to getting NHC my notebook would overheat very easily, even when in sleep mode and shut down.

It sounds like you posted to the wrong forum. OS X doesn't have a registry.
Assuming you actully use Windows then the answer is probably no. Usually ACPI settings like fan speed are stored in the CMOS Chip on the motherboard not the Windows registry.
