I have Windows 7 on my main desktop but cannot access the public folders from my two XP laptops. I can access the printers attached to the Windows 7 machine and have set the public folders to be shared on the network but when I try to access them from the laptops I get a message that I don't have access privileges. How can I correct this?

1. Open Documents by clicking the Start button , and then clicking Documents.
2. In the Navigation pane, under Favorite Links, click Public. If you have configured the Navigation pane so that the Public folder is not visible under Favorite Links, click More , and then click Public.

for more information refer this article.
