I currently use IE8 Beta 2 and Safari for my Web Browsing (Vista Premium SP1 on Dell Inspiron 1721)

Recently I've been getting the following intermittent error ...

'Access denied (policy_denied) Your system policy has denied access to the requesting URL'
Sometimes I'll visit a site OK then the next time it gets blocked !!!

A Google search finds lots of options but none specifically finding or fixing the problem other than downloading things like RegCure and ErrorFix which are great for telling you you have issues but then want paying for fixing them!!!

Does anyone know of any totally free Registry Fix software

Apparently a cause of the problem could be installing and uninstalling a lot of software, and I've got to be honest I have been guilty of that lately !!

I'm sure I read somewhere which Registry Key is causing the problem and how to fix it, but I'll be damned if U can find it ...

As always any help greatly appreciated ...

Registry cleaners are not generally recommended on this site because of the possibility they can do more harm than good. That said, I notice Sarah James recently posted a link to a registry utility she finds useful.

Your problem might involve security issues of one kind or another. Vista uses some security settings to decide whether or not to allow access to certain websites. In my recent experience with IE7 it shut down and restarted the browser. They may have changed this in IE8 to deny access instead. I solved my problem by doing a systen restore back to a point before I made some security setting changes.

Its not a security issue ...

Some of the sites being blocked are sites I visit on a regular basis (eg Newspapers, forums)

Problem can be intermittent, can visit a site then go back some time later to find its blocked ....

Maybe it's a beta beetle.

Apologies for not getting back sooner ...

Don't think it was a Beta problem, I even set the Content Advisor limit to Unlimited in Internet Options and was still getting the problem !!

Anyway found myself a free Registry Editor that appears to have fixed the problem ...

Have now set the Content Advisor back to its original setting (Just in case the kids start messing !!)
