"A Program on your computer has corrupted your default search setting for Internet Explorer.

Internet Explorer has reset this setting to your original search provider.

Internet Explorer will now open Search Settings, where you can change this setting or install more search providers."

The default cannot be changed into any search provider
tried steps from http://social.answers.microsof.....12158f15c2
still doesn't work.

If you can open IE, go into tools > internet options> advanced tab and click on restore IE to default settings. It has helped me 3-4 times

Mickeyblue - that is not helping :)
Some of us might want to use other programs for things, but that doesn't change the fact that we should be able to get a program working like it is supposed to;)

@ Mickeyblue - I recently started using firefox myself after not wanting it for years <LOL>.
I'm a total convert - some add-ons added the features I lacked and no more problems :)

@Techie - have you tried what germ-x offered above? It is a good way of getting back to your starting point with IE.
If it doesn't help, please post back - we'll try and help you:)
And if it did help, please post back too - we love to hear it when things work!
