For some daft reasoning, I change them in half hour stages over 24 hours...But no good if you have a time schedule to meet..LOL!!!

Funny you should say that. My old Sony Clock/Alarm/Radio, that is by my bedside, has provision for a 9V battery. That keeps the time correct during a power cut. I don't have a battery in there, because if I wake up and see the display flashing, I can calculate how long the power was off. Then have to go round the house checking various things, and resetting the many timers we have on different things.

No carbon monoxide producing equipment here,
The dog may knock out a bit of methane on occasion :)
