Well I have intersting story for ya'll
This past Saturday morning I woke up and realized I was $500+ richer in my bank account..I could see through the online portal that it was a check but I couldn't see it til today. And it's a pay-check of this women in IN. So, instead of wasting the cash (which I need and want), I will glady call my bank and report the "error"?
What would you have done?
CompWiz, you certainly did the right thing and you must be commended for it, what a stout fellow you are (and this does not reflect on obesity LOL)

I'd struggle to come to terms, let alone carry it

@vistamike, It was more of an instinctive act.. by nature I just can't do wrong if that makes any sense.

My answer is: Most definitely!! lol I think I'd even be frightened to find that amount in my account!!
Well done compwiz,am sure the person with the missing pay check was truly grateful,not having to argue with the bank that their money really was not where it should have been.

In most countries you are legally bound to report the bank error.
When the error is caught and If you had spent the Error Money,
you would have been asked to repay the sum immediately or go to jail.
Morally you did the correct action and legally you saved yourself from a whole bunch of trouble.
This situation falls under Credit, Fraud or Theft Law.
There is no free money. :)

@Compwiz. Glad it's all sorted and you did the right thing. I'm sure the rightful owner of that cash is very grateful!
And in case anyone was wondering, I was joking about spending the $500. I'm not that hard up for cash! However, If half a mil were to mysteriously materialise in my bank account, it (and myself) would probably very quickly and mysteriously dematerialise.. especially now since the whole effin country's gone tits up. I generally try to do the right thing in life, but no way could I claim to be that nice. Besides, anybody receiving a pay cheque for $500k can probably afford to do without!
