I am still planning on installing XP on this laptop, when I can find out which devices, other than video, wireless, and built in webcam need drivers to operate. In the mean time, though, I noticed that the media card drives, don't show up in "Computer" in Vista. My desktop also has a 5-1 and they show up in "My Computer" on XP. I currently don't have and SD cards to test and see if it actually works. What I was assuming, is in Vista, it works like flash memory, in that the drive only shows up while it is in use. Is this true? If there is an issue. The only reason I ask this, is I am not sure I will be able to get XP on my laptop.

I do not have an actual Vista disc, only a restore disc. I also don't know what devices I need to find drivers for.

I know the latter is off the topic title, but if someone could help with that, in addition to the topic title question. (I just need a list of devices that require drivers, i.e., video, wireless, built-in webcam, etc)

If you wish to use a 5-1 Card Reader you will need the drivers. There are three simple questions you could answer, to enable me to help you better. These are:

1. Is it "Plug 'N' Play"? Meaning can you insert it, and it installs automatically.

2. Did it come with a Driver CD / Driver DVD? If so, you need to install them.

3. Who is the manufacturer?
