I'm done with trying to dual boot. I figure if I can get vista to work I am just going to install a virtualbox and put xp on that. Problem now, is the same as before but dont have to worry about the XP flavor being involved, BootMGR missing. Please people anythoughts?

I managed to boot the XP pro installation CD and preformed a repair. Problems is all of this computers data is on the vista drive. I'm hoping that maybe installing windows will overright the mbr and then when I go back with the Vista x64 Restore disk I can "repair" the start up and actuall get it to boot.

Some how my name was thrown into a hat to fix, and by fix I mean install XP in a dual boot configuration, for some guy that is a friend of the family.

Vista Pre-installed

I shrink the vista partition, everything goes fine.
I install XP, everything goes fine.
I go to repair the Vista bootloader and the dvd's I have are apparently the wrong ones?
Through some messing around I manage to fix the bootloader.
Vista boots!
I use easybcd to link XP. Try to boot XP, no luck.
I figure it prolly cuz of the screwing around I had to do to get the Vista bootloader to work.
I search the net and I find a Vista x64 Restore disk.
I reinstall XP to get me back to where I started pop in the restore disk and repaire the bootloader.
It works.
I go outside to get my phone. When i come back there is a cat on the keyboard and some bsod on the screen.
I restart the computer and BootMGR missing press CTRL + Alt + Del.
I stumple across your site and follow http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/fixing-bootmgr-is-missing-error-while-trying-to-boot-windows-vista/
I follow that and i get the same message BUT instead of actuall readable characters I get a bunch of jibberish at the beginning of the Missing blah blah blah.

In short Computer wont boot past that. and I neglected to make a back up of the guys actuall computer figuring it would be a simple sit and go.
