Aleeve,

No Problem.

The family machine has (2) memory slots.

I when deeper in the page and what you picked out will work fine.

See below.

http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/931230/Computer-Memory-1GB-PC2700-DDR-333Mhz-184pin-DIMM/Product.html?ptsl=1&ob=Price&fb=1

They only had (1) new module in stock so you had better order fast !!!

The reason I said buy (2) sticks and throw the old memory away is that different memory brands might not work together and then again they may work together OK.
You will just have see what happens.

Do you know how much memory is in the family machine right now ??
I am guessing it is 512MB.

In any event, you will end up with more memory if you order the 1024 (1Gig) module.
Kindest Regards,

Ok, found one: http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/931230/Computer-Memory-1GB-PC2700-DDR-333Mhz-184pin-DIMM/Product.html
Haven't ordered quite yet, because I just want to check - will the computer have two ports for RAM, or just the one? (If only one there is no need to buy two)

I feel really stupid asking you about my computer, but I don't know too much about the innards of computers :(

Thanks

Aleeve,

The below page link describes the [ EAXCT ] memory specifications for the family machine and module sizes available.

Write down the info and search your favorite vendor(s) to obtain the best price and amount you need.

I do not know the prices in the UK however I suggest you purchase (2) One Gig sticks which will max out the the machine and be great with XP or Vista. Throw away the old memory as then all memory will match.

http://www.memorystock.com/memory/HewlettPackardPaviliona310uk.html

Play Dot Com has a HUGE selection of memory so just search for the [ EXACT ] modules you wrote down from the link I sent you.

Kindest Regards,

Why yes :) (the family computer)

Although we had to get a new case, as the old power button broke)

anyway, do you mind checking out some RAM that would work?

http://www.play.com/

Please use that website if you can, as I'm a bit of a cheapskate, and prices are generally pretty low, and delivery is free :)

Just a quick question, hope you don't mind, but why the new addition of the heart to your 'signature' ?
:P

The memory you specified will NOT work in the machine link below.

( I wrongly assumed you had already looked up the specs on your machine )

Ok, well, so it will be compatible whatever then?

and, if it is a different brand of RAM inside, this will NOT work?

Aleeve,

In US, Kingston Valueram was pretty good stuff with few complaints if I remember correctly.

*** Don't mix it with different brands which might already be in the machine ***.
