I would definitely visit those security sites I linked to. As I said, that thing seems to be embedded.

Sounds like you may have rogue spyware that maybe has embedded itself into your registry. That stuff can be very hard to remove and you may want to visit some security sites (I'll give you the links to them in a second) and post a HiJackThis Log . . . there, NOT here. HJT may remove the thing, but it's more of a diagnostic tool than a removal tool. If you don't have HJT or don't know how to use it (it's free by the way), the security guys will tell you how to get it and how to use it. HJT will at least give the security guys a starting point.

Some of that rogue spyware stuff takes "industrial strength" removal tools, like SmitFraudFix, ComboFix, and others. DON'T use those tools without the guidance of an expert. They are very powerful and can mess up your machine unless you know how to use them.

Some on here have recommended that you just do a clean install. Indeed, that's a possible solution, but I usually save that as a last resort. Nevertheless, if removal gets to be too much of a hassle, that may be the better way to go.

OK . . . here are the links to some security sites:

1. Tech Support Guy Security forum: http://forums.techguy.org/54-malware-removal-hijackthis-logs/
(Make sure and read the posting guidelines sticky there)

2. Castle Cops: http://www.castlecops.com/forums/html

3. Wilders: http://www.wilderssecurity.com/forumdisplay.php?f=38

There are plenty of others, but this should get you started. As I said, if it looks like removal is going to be too much of a hassle, a clean reinstall may be the way to go. But at least post a HJT log (on the security sites, NOT here) and see how bad it looks. Usually the security guys will be able to tell you right up front how bad it is.

HTH

If you can wait, please post back to Lighthouse or whs tomorrow morning. They are much better at explaining things than I am and can probably help you better.

I will still monitor this thread and your post so they won't get lost.

Kindest Regards,
