Delete that connection. Does the machine have the wireless card plugged in ?? Probably not now; just asking. The Intel Pro 100 Lan requires a driver. I know this laptop works with wireless however, But I don't know about wired - surely it should! Sorry, I found out last night it HAD been used with the internet - it's a work laptop, using the workplace's wireless In Device Manager in Network Adapters: 1394 Net Adapter #2 Dell Wireless WLAn 1350 WLAN Mini-PCI Card Intel(R) PRO/100 VE Network Connection It's a Dell Latitude D505 The connection is definetely there, because 1) the lights where the cable is plagged in are on (one orange and one green) and 2) it is working on my laptop that I am on now! This is baffling to me - I don't understand why it is not working! So We have another XP laptop, but every time I try to plug in the internet (wired - RJ45) nothing happens. Now when I simply plug the cable into my own laptop it works fine (although I have Vista) I have an ethernet switch to have more than one broadband connection, which I am CERTAIN works So what do I have to do to have the internet connection on the XP laptop?
