<description>&#60;p&#62;There is certainly a 32bit and a 64bit version of it. The one that was sent to your desktop was just wrong. Hard to tell why. You can always download the 32bit version for your desktop. On my system it dates from June,6 - so it's already pretty old. Strange that it only shows up now.

&#60;p&#62;I checked the MS website and the standalone update, it applies to Vista x64. I am running 32-bit.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Why is it that this update is popping up in Windows Update?&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Is it indeed not applicable for 32-bit?&#60;br /&#62;
Do I hide the update in Windows Update?

<description>&#60;p&#62;For safe boot mode you disable all start-ups and services in msconfig. But make sure you check the little box in &#34;services&#34; on the bottom left to keep the MS services alive - very important, else you will come to a screaching halt.
