ksdh,

I'll agree with ScottW on this one.
When I posted H/W issue, I always assume and include the Bios plus its Proper Setup as a H/W issue which is a bad habit in posting without adequate explanation.

Kindest Regards,
Rick P. ♥ :)

After searching around, there seem to be several possible answers:
http://forums12.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?admit=109447627+1220424945856+28353475&threadId=1012997
http://forums11.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?admit=109447626+1220425123456+28353475&threadId=701106

I hope that helps you, ksdh, because I've never seen this stuff -- not the message nor a hidden advanced BIOS menu.

ksdh,

Glad you had a safe trip.

Give me a few minutes to refresh my memory and research the issue again.

EDIT: I think the issue is in H/W if you get HP Logo Screen with (2) choices but XP runs fine there after.

Am trying to call HP for you.
EDIT: HP was about as helpful as my cat. I personally don't see how they stay in business.
Will get back with you.

Kindest Regards,

ksdh,

Press F10 and go through the BIOS setup screens and see if there are settings that need to be changed.

Also go to the HP site and download the Machine Drivers and Chipset Driver including the latest Bios update and the installation utility.

Appears all the XP drivers are posted.

Update your Bios if needed.

Just ENSURE to get the correct ones for your particular (specific Configuration) machine model. Look on the back panel of your machine.

May NOT need to install but a couple as XP3 appears to have most of them in it.

Look in Device Manager and see if you have any Devices with a red X or yellow ! mark.

ALSO be sure to check the hidden devices on the drop down menu.

Most forget to do this !!

Go to MS Update Site and download updates.

Many times there will be a updated HW driver included for installation after your machine is scanned.

Regards,
