Hey mysticgeek

Thanks for your response. I went to the website you mentioned 'damn...' and to Knoppix. I am really confused on these resources and how to download and/or use them to recover my stuff. If you have time, please advise more on these resources. I would really appreciate it.

Thanks

Use a Linux Live CD such as http://www.damnsmalllinux.org/ or Knoppix

Then you will be able to see your HDD and you can copy files to an external Drive.

Hello
I need assistance booting up my XP computer--gives error 'unmountable boot volume'. I really just want to recover data, like pics and music to back up. I then can reformat hard drive and start over if need be. I have tried MS recovery console but dose not work, error 'UBV' again. I dont have floopy XP start up disks to try it that way. ANd do not have a computer that has a floopy drive where I could download the startup disks. I only have a newer laptop with DVD drive. My XP computer is a desktop PC about 4 years old and that is the one I need to recover, any ideas??

I would appreciate any help.

Thanks
