whs. Brendan installed the Ghost in my computer and gave me the ISO file disc. He tested it and works good. Again, why these two guys are so specials? My father can't access to their folders.

Yes, if you make the appropriate setting. Similar to shadowstorage. But I still like to fiddle with it myself because sometimes I like to keep and old restore point for a reason.

Sparky, The "cheap" Ghost version is Ghost V12. The most current one is V14 (there is no V13 - to my knowledge). V12 is ample. Most of the extras in V14 one would hardly use anyhow. So you can go with the $40 offering.
For the Ghost recovery points you MUST have an external disk - and lots of it. I recommend 250GB although on one of my laptops I have only 120GB. That works but you have to manage the restore points. Look at this rendition of my external Ghost disk, and it will give you an idea. http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii36/whs37/Ghost/Ghostrecoverypoints.png
AND, one more important thing - you MUST have the Ghost disk, else you cannot recover. You can do everything else, but not recover - which after all is the purpose of the exercise. For the downloaded version they offer to burn an ISO disk, but I had trouble with that. So better get the disk (what Norton calls "the physical")

I believe there's a Ghost v12 for sale online for under $40.00,is that good? And once the program is installed, how is data transferred? on the disk itself,or an external HDD?

You can install Ghost yourself, if you want. It is real easy and straight forward. But you can also trust Brendan. He knows what he is doing. And read my tutorials for further settings. Just make sure you have a Ghost disk - else you cannot restore/recover. If Brendan installs "his" Ghost, you will have to burn a disk - either from his or by downloading the Ghost ISO file. Here is how http://service1.symantec.com/support/powerquest.nsf/docid/2008011023144262 I hope it works, because I had some problems with it in April. But the Norton people said at that time, they would fix the problems.

That's correct whs, his name is Brendan, 2 brothers identically, by the way, really I don't bought it, he told me that he can install his Ghost 14 in my computer, he can install in 3 computers as he said. He showed me the tutorials and seems were you who made them. I don't know if I trust them, my father can't access to their file in the school. Why they are to special kids.? I will let him to install the ghost, I don't have nothing to loss.

Your friend is probably Brendan and it's for him that I made those tutorials (the ones that ScottW posted). You can trust him. He knows a lot about Ghost. I have a couple more. If you need more info, let me know. By the way: The Ghost installation itself is straight forward. He did not need instructions for that.

@ScottW, No problem you posting that. They are in the public domain and I am glad if they are being used.

I don't think whs will mind if I post this link. These are tutorials that he created and has shared with everyone on the forum. The great thing about his tutorials here is that they include some great screen shots to go along with the instructions:

Jr3dw1E, hello. I can help you with Ghost, as can user whs when he shows up. I have been using Ghost for many years, through several different versions. What questions do you have? Take a look at this website which has tutorials and forums for Ghost users.
http://nortonghost.radified.com/

I don't think that Norton Ghost is beyond the capabilities of a 14-year old. Especially a 14-year old who has grown up with computers all around and has experience using other mainstream software. Since Norton Ghost v12, the interface was redesigned and is now more user friendly. Yet, it is still possible to access all of the power of the program, by going deeper into the interface. The latest version is v14 which uses the same friendly interface as v12.
