You must wait for Vista to finish making the first<br /> index BEFORE you modify the index locations otherwise the indexing service breaks.<br /> When I tried to change the index locations after a reset it broke the<br /> indexing. As I said in my post the Start Menu search function is working like a charm. I am having problems with Outlook of which I just have rebuilt its index. And you know what? In two occasions it started indexing from scratch by itself. </p> <p>2)Left pc on overnight for a whole week.</p> <p>I believe the problem is with Outlook's indexing. It just says the number of items remaining to be indexed when you check the status but this number keeps going up over time. It never decreases.</p> <p>The funniest thing though is that the moment I delete some items or empty the deleted items folder and then check the status, I see these are added up to the number of files to be indexed.</p> <p>Currently it says 2990 items remaining to be indexed when I barely reach 1800.</p> <p>Vista Desktop Search instead is working pretty well.</p> <p>Does anyone have any idea? </p>
