The network connections will let you know if your computer is 'seeing' your network card. If you do not see it listed there, then the device manager will give you the place to reinstall the drivers for it, then after a reboot you should be good to go.

For sure Avant is invasive. And so is Norton. Yes, try uninstalling Norton first.

this is a good suggestion; however, i cannot log onto the internet at all. I feel like i either disabled something on my computer or Avant somehow locked me out of internet explorer. I have tried to install firefox (received through friends) and it is doing the same thing. I double click on the firefox icon and it reads "the webpage cannot be displayed" I have looked on the other forums on this site, is it possible that Norton has conflicted with my other systems? should i uninstall norton?

First thing to check is if your network card is working, go to Start, Settings, Network Connections. If there is nothing there, then you will have to go into the Control Panel, System, Hardware, Device Manager. Odds are you will see that Network Adapters has an indicator by it. If this is the case reinstalling your drivers should take care of the problem.

I was using avant browser and tried to get rid of it; somehow i didn't uninstall the whole program so i still had it but it didn't have all the tabs (such as the back/forward error etc on the toolbar) so i decided to install avant browser again. This was a bad mistake, by doing so i got all my tabs back; however, i can not get my "google page" up. Every time I open Avant up it states "the webpage cannot be displayed" So i decided to uninstall Avant once again thinking everything would kick back (default) into internet explorer settings. Everything did, but i still cannot access the internet. My wireless is fine and working, but for some unknown reason i cannot run the actual page. can anyone help?
