Well, I finally got around to this again. I had used FastStone Capture v5.3, the last freeware version, but I didn't know that it would capture a whole web page. Any old screen capture will grab the part of a web page that is currently being displayed, but that doesn't give you an image of the entire page when it doesn't fit in your browser window. So, I finally saw the "Scrolling Window" capture option which grabs the entire web page even if it has a scroll bar. I didn't even know that was there! This is the way that everyone is doing the web page capture, right?

@ScottW - Bullzip Pdf creator does print to jpg, png, tiff and others, but if you want to print a webpage like that it is better to use FastStone Capture, because a pdf printer splits a webpage up in pages, so you get only page 1.
For other files it works fine, you just need to take into account when printing for example a word doc to print one page at a time;-)

Cheers,
Sarah.

Well, it would appear that all of the freeware Image Printers are PDF Printers with image output options. That's good to know in case I need one some day.

@whs, can doPDF print to an image file? I didn't see that listed in the feature set, but I didn't look very hard either.

I had to do a systemrestore (not related to anything discussed here) and lost my pdf printer again.
So I thought I might as well take a look for another free pdfprinter, since the one I use is rather basic.
I ran into this one :
http://www.bullzip.com/products/pdf/info.php
Also prints to jpg and png and a lot of others and looks real good and so far seems to work fine (very fast too).
I like it:)

Cheers,
Sarah.

FastStone Capture is the ultimate. I use it since a long time. I paid $20 for the latest version, but there is an older free version. It does my screenshots and then, of course, you can use it like the snipping tool. The best though is the facility to make annotations - very handy for tutorials.

Funny thing is, I háve PDFCreator installed, some old beta version, but it doesn't print to jpg or png as far as I can see.
So I installed the version they have on their site right now and then everything jammed up. Couldn't print at all anymore. So I uninstalled, which also removed my old version, but luckily I still had the installer stored on DVD, so I reinstalled that one and now it's back to normal. Gave me a scare though ....

So I'll stick to my older version.

Anyway - what I was looking for was a free webpage capture app and I found that in FastStone Capture.
It is simply perfect! Also good for 'normal' screencapture. It's fast, easy and free- what more do you want? LOL

There is a PDFCreator restriction on Vista as to multiple users. Single user should be OK. It works for me too.

In another forum I got a link to FastStone Capture
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/pesala/Home/html/faststone.html
Version 5.3 is free, upwards is shareware, but the free one does it all and works like a charm (even on my Vista;-D)
So I guess TNT Screencapture has been outmuscled;-)

@ jd2066 - nice, but it doesn't work on Vista:(

For image printers you can try PDFCreator. It will let you save to JPG and PNG.

Sarah, I googled around for an Image Printer and it seems that there are no freeware ones that can do the job. At least I didn't find any. I will keep an eye out for one, though, because I have a feeling that someday I'll need one myself.

Well, after looking around I'll stick to Webpage Capture by Endicosoft.com
At least there is a free version that works, even though it is not possible to browse to a folder of choice where the bmp files will be stored and bmp is the only type available. Also there is a big banner on top of your image.
Pro's : the banner is easy to remove (for example crop in irfanview - which also converts them to png or jpg with ease) and I've put up a shortcut to the folder where the files are stored, so I'm good for the moment.

@ ScottW - Pdf printer and then converting is too time consuming, iWebshots was soooo easy, but unfortunately shareware. Now a jpeg printer, that sounds interesting. I'll take a google later today:)

@ The Geek - Nope, no firefox here.

Hi, Sarah. Weren't you using a PDF printer at one time? You could save the PDF as an image or convert it. However, it would probably be better to just get another virtual printer, a jpeg printer. I've never used one, but they are out there and I'll bet you could google up a free one.

Does anyone know a good free (!) webpage capture software?
I had iWebshot and it worked fine, but then the trial was over and after that it not only limited itself to bmp (which I had understood from the readme file), but also limited itself to just screencapture (which wasn't clear when I installed it). Bummer - I have TNT screencapture for that, and that works far better.
But I still need an app that allows me to capture a whole webpage in one pic.
I've also tried Webpage Capture. Free indeed, but saves to a folder burried deep in your system and no options to change that or you need to register.

Anyone any suggestions?
