This problem seemed very familiar to me as well...

I think that's the fix that ashley mentioned.

Hi Lighthouse & JD, thanks very much for both your efforts in getting this problem solved.

Actually, I have encountered this Windows Help/Support problem before, and it's the same geek website that helped me solve it, and too bad I lost that help link. Fortunately, I recall that it has something to do with the Dreamweaver 8 installed on Vista. And I got it fixed by installing a reg file "DW8_Fix_Help_and_Support", and it indeed help me solve that Windows Help/Support problem here.

Once again, thank you for ur time. Appreciate that!

Ash

@Lighthouse: The download does apply to Vista. The download is a program to view older help files. The program came with Windows 98-XP. It's available for download for Vista as Vista doesn't contain that program anymore. "Help and Support" is a different help system made just to list help for Windows Vista. Thus downloading one won't help a problem with the other.

Ok Ok I am wrong. But it says Windows Vista in big letters. How am I to know it doesn't apply to Vista?

@Lighthouse: Ok. What I said still applies to that link. It's a download of a file to view Windows 95 style help files which has nothing to do with the "Help and Support" window of Vista or the Windows 98-Vista style help files.

It is a function in "Windows Help and Support" (see picture above). But on his system it does not show up. So something is wrong. If you look on your system, it is probably there. Click on it and go to 'settings' and you will see that you can uncheck the online support.
Edit: I tried to answer a question that has disappeared. The new form of hide and seek - or - the perfect answer to a non-existing question.

Hi, the Help window just doesn't have the Options menu, it's just blank and the mouse cursor keeps revolving. Nothing I could do, except to close it.
