Im having issues playing a simple game like Fable for the pc. As far as gaming is concerned...im terribly dissapointed in Vista's capabilities. I have great system specs on my laptop (yes laptops are fragile little doves:D) and it runs like crap. One moment everything runs smoothly and well. The next, it starts lagging and getting choppy.

I have no idea what is doing it, since i have it set on the lowest and least graphic intesive setting.

haha lol ok

#include <iostream>
using namespace std;

int main() {
cout << "Crysis is a great game and every one should have it.\n";
cin.get();
cin.ignore();

              return 0;
}

simple yet still serves a point :)

Aleeve, they should put that info in the requirements:

OS - Windows XP / Vista
Processor - Intel Core 2 Duo or AMD Athlon 64 X2
Memory - 2.0 GB RAM
Laptop costing at least £1500 (1900€, $3000)

EDIT: Doh! I mixed up my currencies. All three amounts are supposed to be roughly the same.

I have Vista 32-bit and most games I have work just fine on it. Like Need for Speed Carbon/ProStreet, DiRT, Frogger2, Midtown/Motocross Madness 1/2.
The only one I've found that has some issues is "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" 1st edition. Though it's not the great of a game anyways.
Thinking of older games I have some 16-bit games from 1995 (BOWEP, Arcade) that still work. Though that is more because the 16-bit subsystem didn't change that much if at all in Vista.

Edit: One more thing to add. DirectX 10 is exclusive to Windows Vista. So DirectX 10 only games will only run on Windows Vista. Though there aren't that many of those at the moment.

Compatibility is still a giant issue for gamers... many (especially older) games have issues on Vista.

Typically the solutions are always:

1) Run the game in compatibility mode, disable desktop composition, etc
2) Check with the vendor to see if they have a patch (many do even for old games)
3) Google it.

I saw this article from Ed Bott about gaming in XP vs Vista:
http://blogs.zdnet.com/Bott/?p=458

So I was wondering if anyone who does PC gaming uses Vista and does it still have a rep for being a poor gaming OS? Is compatibility still an issue with Vista 32-bit, or do all the latest games run on Vista? I like to know this so I can advise clients who are into gaming.

For me, I do my gaming on an Xbox 360 these days, though I used to play PC games a lot. I keep telling myself that one of these days I should grab up a PC game and try it myself, but it hasn't happened yet.
