Apple leave the holes in the windows version to make windows seem less secure than MacOS.

Fact! You heard it here first (and last) people!

i dont bookmark with safari. Its my surfing browser. I use opera all the time on the pc for favourite sites (though 99% of my posts to this site are made my nokia n73,with opera mini) never use explorer, and firefox is now bloated and overrated. Avant is quite good. So cant help you.

billbonza,

Maybe you can help. The main reason I find Safari difficult is the lack of a bookmark sidebar. It seemed whenever I wanted to visit a bookmarked page I had to go through a couple of clicks and away from the main browser page. Is this inherent, a bug, and is there a workaround?

Thanks

I just read the page at http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2092
It appears some of the security issues including the downloading files without prompts to the desktop have been fixed in the latest release of Safari for Windows.

I've been using Opera quite a bit lately... The more I use it the more I like it.

There are a few annoying issues with it, especially with the "official" release. The beta is a lot better.

Hail Opera - really a good browser. Has just one little glitch for the Forum visits - you have to refresh from time to time to get the visited posts to turn from blue to black. In that regard, Opera is a little phlegmatic.

The safari browser is chock full of security holes... just one new vulnerability after another. I advise uninstalling. You can always use one of the Firefox safari themes to make it look the same.

Read this for a few details on just one of the current holes:

http://blogs.zdnet.com/security/?p=1212

Plus, Safari is pathetic. If you want a speedy browser that still has lots of features, Opera is the way to go.
