It makes sense.
Maybe you can set the folder icons the way you'd like and then use the mouse wheel trick to adjust the desktop icons smaller?

Hey guys, I get a tad obsessional about the layout of my desktop.

I have the icons displayed without any arrows or text and i used to space them manually so they all touch perfectly.

I changed to using the grid to space them as it is simpler. I then made it so they are closer by setting the icon spacing (personalise>window color and appearance>open classic appearance properties for more color options>advanced) to them being closer (horizontal 41 and vertical 14 is the closest i could get so the gaps are equal and the icons don't overlap.

The only problem with this is it affects the icon spacing in other folders where the view is set to icons. Can anyone help me arrange the desktop with a tighter grid without affecting all the other folders on my computer.

I hope this makes sense and thank you for reading and any help.
