In practical life there is very little difference one way or the other. The account name will be yours, grandson's, or Public. You may find the "Public Desktop" folder doesn't show up -- that's because it's a hidden folder. Go to Start -&gt; Control Panel -&gt; (Appearance an Personalization) -&gt; Folder Options -&gt; View tab. Select the setting "Show hidden files and folders", click OK. You should now see the Public Desktop folder.<br /> 4. You should see some of the icons from your desktop. To change the view, right-click in the right hand pane and select View -&gt; Medium Icons (or large icons).<br /> 5. Open a second File Explorer window, for example, by pressing Win+E again.<br /> 6. Navigate to your grandson's desktop folder. It should be C:\Users\(account name)\Desktop. Adjust the view as before.<br /> 7. Arrange the windows so that you can see both Desktop folders.<br /> 8. Pick an icon you want off of your desktop, and drag-and-drop it from the Public Desktop folder to your grandson's Desktop folder.<br /> 9. If you want more control over what gets installed on your computer (and by default what you see on 'your side' of the pc) you would need to lower your grandson's level to User rather than Administrator.
