zxspectrum, what error message do you get in XP when you try to delete the folders created by Vista? Try the following KB article to take ownership of the files and folders under XP:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308421

To just delete those files then, you will have to take ownership first.
http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/add-take-ownership-to-explorer-right-click-menu-in-vista/

Also make sure you you remove any shadowstorage and pagefile areas before you start deleting the files

I think there is a misunderstanding here. The way I read it is that zxspectrum has an E: partition with 925 GB of data, of which 15-20 GB is used by a Vista install. He would like to uninstall the Vista OS, but keep all the other data on his E: partition -- the other 905-910 GB of data should be preserved. If I am understanding correctly, he doesn't want his E: partition formatted or wiped, just to have the Vista install removed.

zxspectrum, regarding your question of games, in theory 64-bit Vista is capable of better gameplay. In reality, 64-bit Vista is less compatible with games, especially older ones. Most gamers would tell you to pick 32-bit Vista so you will have access to a larger catalog of games to play. If you pick 64-bit Vista, some games won't play. All games that are branded with Microsoft's "Games For Windows" logo will play on Vista 64-bit. Check out their website: http://www.gamesforwindows.com

Use Paragon Disk Wiper [ Not Paragon Disk Manager ] . Paragon Disk Wiper works with Vista and XP . Backup your personal stuff on that E drive , then " use Paragon Disk Wiper to " WIPE" the Partition . Your Partition does not get deleted , but everything from it's very inside roots in the Hard drive gets wiped out , which means your E Drive will be Brand New and in a " RAW" stage . You then simply Format it by right clicking on the drive and use that " Format" line . Do FULL format , NOT your " quick" format.
It will solve your problem 100% . VISTA is a very very tricky dragon to tame. I'm a Vista Engineer , ask if you need any help.

Hi guyz,i've searched in howto's and didn't found what i was looking for,so here is the situation:
I wanted to give it a try with Vista and since my only acceptable partition with enough free space was e: i've installed vista in that location. So,now that i have given up using vista,i would normally want to delete those vista installation files on my E: partition, only i cannot do that.So i have about 15-20 gigs that i cannot delete. Can someone tell me how to do that?thank you very much.
Also, pls,i have another quick question, which version of vista sp1 is better for games? x86 or x64.Thanks a bunch.
