When I upgraded Ubuntu Linux from ver. 7.10 to 8.4, it grabbed my EXISTING Linux partition (/dev/sda2 [24.86 GB] and Linux SWAP file (/dev/sda5 [415.68 MB]), and ADDED THE UPGRADE INSIDE it as /dev/sda4 [8.01 GB], ALONG WITH A NEW swap FILE, /dev/sda5 [1.47 GB]). This leaves me with TWO -- the OLD and the NEW -- versions of Ubuntu on my hard drive. </p>
