@jack,
You said "awhile back..." things have changed now i predict,
but i don't totally disagree with you. Although i use photoshop for school, home and the company i work for, the only trials i have used are photoshop ones, which were perfectly similar to the full version!

i don't think that is true all of the time though. and i think that i remember using photoshop awhile back and using the trial was a little different that using the full version.

@Jack,
a Trial is using a full program for a limited amount of time, and a Demo is using a program with some tools and aspects missing.
and every adobe Trial available for download has the full program with all the tools with it.
thanks for your help though.

@Jack,
WHAT? are you saying 2 Gigabyte of RAM isn't enough to run AE 8?

And by the way, i got AE 8 of the official Adobe website as a trial!

@Jack,
I have 2 GB of RAM.

@Smashpmk712,
To be perfectly honest with you, i got the CD of my Friend, but i think it isn't legal, so i uninstalled it and bought " After Effects 7 " ,
And AE 7 is working Perfectly now! there isnt really much of a difference between 8 and 7 anyway!

I don't mean to be rude but is this a legal copy of after effects? If it is I would try the technical support for the program and see if it is a known error.

@The Geek
I tried changing it to XP SP2, but it still gets an error message at 4%, i have also tried Windows 2000 Same error,
but when trying 98 and 95, it opened!, i could see the After Effects Workspace, but i get an error message:

And then when i press ok :

I guess i am just going to try my luck with After Effects 7.0 ,
but if you have any suggestions i would love to hear them!

What you could try doing is using the compatibility options... right-click on shortcut, choose properties and then the compatibility tab and use XP SP2 mode.
