You might want to consider uninstalling applications under Win98 before moving the 40 GB drive over. But, be sure that you do not lose any data. Sometimes you have to select "custom install" even though the only thing you want to customize is the location. There are a few programs out there that will only install on C:, but that won't be enough to fill up your C: drive.</p> <p>3) I don't know. It's an interesting idea. A repair install can cause problems like erasing some configuration settings and messing up installed programs.<br /> The reason this happens is because Windows XP only installs the disk controller driver for the hardware it's installed to and when moving to another computer with a different disk controller it will not work. There are also other things like the HAL that can be different from one computer to another also.</p> <p>Windows 98 is better about being transfered but it can still have problems.<br /> It will boot but not always to normal mode. Your mailboxes, attachments, and embedded folders will all be on the D: drive.<br /> * You will have to install Eudora under XP, then either import your mailboxes from the old location, or copy the folders over to the new location.</p> <p>Now I see as I was typing this long-winded response that others have responded. Once you do that, your system will boot from the 10 GB drive with XP and the 40 GB drive will be given the next logical drive (most likely it will be your D: drive). Since your new C: drive will be so small, when you reinstall your programs do not used the default settings (which will be c:\Program Files\Name) rather change the C: to D: and leave everything else the same. The programs will just go D:\Program Files\Name and XP will have access to them. It will be attached to your hard drive. Just before that will be another connector that can plug your other hard into.
