Usually your MB should come with them, so no need to order anything extra. Matt

OEM´s are cheaper as they don´t come with software bundles and sometimes have less (or no) warranty. I would ask the retailer where you buy it from exactly which conditions are offered (or not!!) Matt

EDIT: It could also come without connection cables.

alright well thanks for everything! btw, does it matter if the dvd writer i buy is oem? most are oem, but the retail ones are like double the price.

That would be a better pick it´s DDR3 so definately more future-proof!! I only posted the Asus above as you seemed to be on a tight budget. The memory is good too.

wiiboy11, try looking for a MB that has at least 800/1066 something like the Asus P5QL Pro. It´s not too expensive and (unless you are wanting to use SLI) would be fine for your components.
EDIT: if i replaced it with this motherboard

Hi wiiboy11, welcome to HTG. A couple of things stand out in your list. Firstly, the Asus MB only supports DDR2 memory with 667 timings which is pretty slow for todays standards. The SLI in the title is not quite true as it will only support one graphics card at full x16 speed, if you were to hook up 2 cards they would only run at x8. If you are wanting to game then you should spend a little more on a motherboard and RAM.

Now on to the PSU, it´s not bad and certainly has enough power for your components but it is always better to purchase a PSU with the 80 plus certificate. They are more effecient. Also the OCZ only has 3 SATA power connectors which isn´t a lot seeing as most new DVD drives and HDD´s now use SATA.

Finally, as just mentioned I would buy a DVD writer that is connected via SATA, they are not much more expensive than the IDE ones. Matt

well ive gotten to the point where ive found all of the parts, but i have a feeling that some things arent compatible, or arent good quality.
in the end id like to have a computer that runs great and be able to play demanding games, but still afordable in an average budgit.

here are links to pages with the parts ive chosen with specs.

i was wondering if you could help me make sure that everything is compatible, and that they are all good quality parts.
