When you uncheck a startup process, it is only disabled not uninstalled. IE7 is built-in to the OS and there is no download of IE7 for reinstall in Vista. IE8, if that's what you are running, is basically an OS update. If you remove the update, you rollback to IE7. You can put IE8 back by adding the update again, but it's not what I would call a reinstall.</p> <p>You could try the Reset Internet Explorer Settings (RIES) operation. Without knowing what you are running, though, it's hard to say if it's a problem or where the problem is. It would be good to know the number of processes that are running after a clean boot.
