I will wait until I reformatt my computer I guess. The good thing is I am now so used to Firefox that I don't really miss. IX.

sm, if you are running IE7 or IE8, there should be a noext version at Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Internet Explorer (No Add-ons). Try that one and see if it will launch.

sm, what happens when you try to launch IE? Or, what is it about IE that is not working?

smorton,
---
If you installed IE7/IE8 BEFORE you installed XP Service Pack 3, then you will have to Clean Install XP to get rid of the IE7/IE8 installation.
---
If you installed IE7/IE8 AFTER you installed XP Service Pack 3, then something went wrong because a normal uninstall should take you back to IE6.
---
Regards,
Rick P.

It isn't Vista. It is XP Pro. I can't use it and I can't remove it. Super frustrating except I like Firefox.

I would love to roll back to IE7 but I can't do that either.

@smorton: I'm confused - why/how are you trying to reinstall IE? You cannot remove it, so I guess you either want to reconfigure to default settings, or do you want to roll back to IE7?
Post back and we'll be able to help =]

Not really sure what's happening. That's a strange error message concerning an NT Service Pack.

Rick, that may have been my mistake. I just assumed it was Vista - sorry.

Then the topic needs to be moved into the Vista Section of our forum. :)

No way to remove the IE. It is an integral part of Vista. But you can upgrade to IE8 without problems.

I like Firefox but I would also like the option of using IE. I have tried to remove it to reinstall it a good number of times and I can't do it. I get these messages:

Setup cannot copy the file ieakmmc.chm. Then it asks to "Ensure that the location below is correct, or change it and insert Windows NT Service Pack. Uninstall Directory in the drive you specify.

Then it indicates copy files from C\\WINDOS\ie8.

I can't seem to do it.

Any thoughts?

Thanks
