Not really an error, more that such a useful bit of info should get more coverage. If you made a New Topic of it, as, for example, a little tip.....
Then it would be seen more :)

The issue seems to be still occurring, I see fresh questions (in 2009) on this subject in other forums and the previous responses did not provide a fix or workaround. If what I provided is in error then please delete my posts. :)

This recently occurred on my system.

My current workaround is to right click on the first photo in the folder, select open with, select Windows Photo Gallery.

To enter windowed mode instead of the fullscreen, press the escape key.

Its not a fix to the error, but it provides roughly the same functionality.

Your Icon is probably "dead", i.e. does not know the path to the slide show program any more. The slideshow program obviously works.

Hi Mike

i tried cleaning temp folders, i defraged and did a system restore. nothing worked. the slide show icon just wont work, the only way i can do a slide show is to click on a photo, open it then click on the centre buttom "play a slide show" that workes, but i just cant get the slide show icon to work and cant work out what the prob is, all
the other icons ie preview, print ect all work.

Regards
Carolyn

Right. In this situation, I would do a disk cleanup to clear out the temp folders, and then if it doesn't work, I would do a System Restore back to a time when it did work.

--
