Bartman, just a quick reply to say a Million Thanks for all your help. I did as you said and nervously used Revo Uninstaller to uninstall Microsoft Office Trial from my Daughter's Sony Vario Laptop. It worked, but I was very worried when it took over 30 minutes to calculate how many Registry References to remove.....a total of over 60,000 and over 180 Program Files. It removed it and then I was able to install Microsoft Office Enterprise. I didn't need to remove Activation Assistant (as you said) as I think I probably had removed it (accidentally) in my previous adventures at trying to remove Office Trial. It appears you normally have to remove it before you remove Office.
Everything is now installed and working properly, so a BIG THANK YOU TO YOU and everyone who tried to help....REVO ROCKS

THANKS

900 files would not be unusual for a program the size of Office. If I remember correctly that is about the number I saw when I uninstalled it.
Something else just came to mind. After uninstalling the trial you will also need to uninstall the Activation Assistant as well.

I don't think you have anything to worry about concerning your daughters files since they are kept in a separate folder such as the Documents
folder. But you could always back them up as an extra measure of insurance.

Since it is quite hard to get a copy of Office 2003 legally (the only way I know is through TechNet), I would recommend upgrading to the 2010 beta at http://office.com/beta

whs.....thanks for your help but I tried to install the new bought copy of Microsoft Office Enterprise over the top of the trial version (and like you) I thought it would remove the trial version but it didn't and after doing some research it appears it doesn't and that's why I have got into all the problems I having with it..........it's a real pain in the neck!!!! and that is why I think Microsoft should be respondsible for getting me out of this mess. They seem to have imbedded this trial installation onto new computers. They have probably have done a deal with the manufacturers of the hardware (in my daughters case her new Sony Vario Laptop) that they must install this if they want to install Windows Vista.......anyway I think should have provided a simple program to remove it.

Bartman........thanks also for your help. I have used Revo many times in the past to remove other software from my computer and it has ALWAYS removed it....without exception. But I was a wee bit concerned when I saw the number of files it wanted to remove.....I think it was over 900 files (it might have been less than that.....but it was a lot) Do you think it would be safe enough to use.....especially with my daughters important files on the computer.....I don't want loose everything and then have to reformat or even worse have to start all over again. I don't think I would be her favourite Dad if that happened LOL.....do you?
So you see the delemma I am in......I'm dammed if I do and dammed if I don't, because she needs this software installed for her school work.

Thanks for all your help

I have used Revo Uninstaller to remove Office Home and Student 2007
many times with complete success.

Suggest you try it to remove the program using the Advanced Option.

I have also used Decrapifier in the past, but I don't think it is as thorough
as Revo.

I have also used Revo to uninstall other programs without any problems at all.

As far as I remember, once you install a new Office 2007, it removes the old version as part of the new installation. But I have done that only with apples to apples (home student in both cases).

mfletch......thanks but........Immmmm............did you read the reviews of this removal application???? ..........I don't think they liked it and that is mild....they called it S**t and other words which I wont repeat here. To me it looks very, very ,risky.
I think I will try the "Fix It" program from Microsoft first and see if that works. I will try it in the next day or so and then let you know how I get on. I don't want to ruin my daughters computer because she has her GCSE Course Work on it.
I really don't understand why Microsoft have made this so difficult to remove. Why oh why?
I suppose I could contact Microsoft and ask them to talk me through this.........as it is their program.
Anyway thanks for all your help and I will let you know how I get on in the next day or so...............and if anyone else has any other suggestion to put forward.......please do

Thanks

Yes I saw that on my travels but didn't know if it would work or not because it said "Note This Fix It solution does not remove an Office program that was installed separately from the Office suite. For example, if you have Microsoft Office Professional 2007 and Microsoft Office Visio 2007 installed on your computer, the Fix It solution only removes Microsoft Office Professional 2007 from your computer. Visio 2007 will not be removed."

Do you think it is worth a go?

mfletch, thanks for your quick reply but I should have said I tried that (after googling the problem) and then ran into problems once I came into the editing of the Registry......that's something I don't really want to do......is there any application that could do those Registry changes.....I don't mind paying for it. When it comes to Registry alterations (and the warnings it comes with).....I just run a mile.
Thanks again for your help but is there somewhere else that get rid of this annoying application. I don't why Microsoft make it so difficult to remove.....in my case I am going to replace it with a dearer product of theirs. I even tried to validate the trial product with the Key that came with the Microsoft Office Enterprise but it didn't accept it. Someone on another forum suggested that I use the Disc I was given with MOE to remove the Trial but that didn't work either.
Please Help........thanks

How do I remove Microsoft Office Trial form my Daughters new Sony Laptop (with Vista Installed). I want to replace it with Microsoft Office Enterprise. I have tried to remove it using Windows, Control Panel/ Add & Remove....unfortunately it didn't remove it. I have tried to install Microsoft Office Enterprise over the top of the Trial Version....but it didn't work because when I click on a Word Document it comes up as a Trial Version. Is there an Application that I can use that will remove it? I was thinking of trying to use Decrapifier....but I have never used it and I don't if it could take it off. I was thinking of trying to remove it by using Revo Uninstaller but I used it one time before and it seemed to take about 900 files......I wouldn't know enough about computers to be confident in removing that amount of files.....do you think that would be safe to use?

Any suggestions would be appreciated

Charliebrown
PS I was also thinking of contacting Sony as the new Laptop is only 3 months old but I don't know whether they would interested in helping me because it is a software issue....what do you think?

Hi All,
Few weeks ago I upgraded my office from 2003 to 2007. since the upgrade I can't mark text using the mouse or open attachments using the mouse at the outlook application. The mouse is working well in all other applications and the problem is only at Outlook. (at outlook 2003 it works without any problem).
I found some help requests at google but no solution that works...
Any help will be appriciated.

Thx

All of a sudden OL would connect to gmail but would not download any new headers or full messages when I clicked on the header of a downloaded message.
