Jason Fitzpatrick is warranty-voiding DIYer and all around geek. When he's not documenting mods and hacks he's doing his best to make sure a generation of college students graduate knowing they should put their pants on one leg at a time and go on to greatness, just like Bruce Dickinson. You can follow him on Google+ if you'd like.

Need to add “In Her Name” by Michael R. Hicks. He is an incredible writer.
You have a Typo in there the award is called the “Hugo award”. Not the Huge award. But otherwise thanks for the list.
Huge award :)
Any SF by Iain M Banks is a good bet.
Hate to show my age, but if it opens up a new read – so be it. Although know for his detectives series Travis McGee, John D. MacDonald wote some interesting sci-fi. My favorites are Wine of the Dreamers and Ballroom of the Skies. These are a take on the reason for all the ‘weirdmes’ in the world, and as we all know – IT’S NOT MY FAULT :-)
