Earlier this year rumors started floating around that Amazon would be rolling out a public-lending system supported by public libraries–most likely in time for the Christmas rush. The service is currently in beta and offers lending from select US libraries.
Library patrons at active Kindle-supported libraries (such as the Seattle Public Library) can use the OverDrive digital lending service to check out books from the library. The service supports all versions of the Kindle including platform apps (such as Kindle for PC) and Amazon’s Cloud Reader.
