E-ink is easy to read, ebook readers are lightweight, the only pesky hiccup is that whole electricity thing. Avoid running out of juice, no matter how long your vacation, with this ebook reader solar panel hack.
Instructables user Flapke shares a simple hack that adds solar panels to an ebook reader. While his tutorial focuses on the Kobo ebook reader the heart of his hack is simply making space in the rear panel of the reader for the solar panels and wiring them into the unit’s battery. You can easily adapt his guide to the ebook reader of your choice. In fact, the design transplants well to any electronic device with a wide back and low power needs.
Hit up the link below for the full tutorial or, if you’re a bit apprehensive about hacking the solar panels directly into your device, you can check out previously featured MightyMintyBoost to trickle charge your ebook reader through the sync cable.
