Jomic Is a Lightweight Comic Reader for Windows and OS X
If you’re having a hard time finding a good comic reader for your Mac, Jomic is a lightweight, open source, and snappy comic reader available for both OS X and Windows.
It supports all major image formats as well as comic container files (CBZ, CBR, etc.), full screen playback with side-by-side page presentation, and keyboard shortcuts.
If you’re looking for a Linux-based reader, make sure to check out previously reviewed Comix. Jomic is open-source, Mac and Windows only.

Just a minor correction: Jomic does run on Linux, simply use the same installer as for Windows – it’s platform independent. Additionally there is a Java Web Start release available from the Jomic site.
(For the daring ones: there also is an experimental Debian package you can build from the source code repository.)
It wouldn’t install in the programs file, so I installed it in documents. Then I couldn’t figure out how to use it. 8(
