Are you sure it’s drawing power from the clouds… or is it attacking them? ;)
I think it is the other way around, the clouds are attacking the spaceship and drawing power from it.
Of course, we’ve learned to control the weather and that is lightening we’re zapping them with. Too bad we didn’t realize that is also how they get their power, so they aren’t drawing it, we’re feeding it to them.
The ironic ending is, they thought we did it to be nice, so they go back home without blowing us out of orbit. ;)
