Geek Project: Spare Closet Converted to a DIY Home Data Center
If it feels like your computers are overtaking your office it might be time to find them a home of their own. Check out how one industrious geek turned a spare closet into a ventilated home data center.
DocDawning was already using his office closet to store his surplus of development machines and servers but it was a hot mess (literally). He redid the closet to include wall-mounted racks, fan-driven ventilation, and lighting. Hit up the link below to see all the steps in his server-closet remodel.

Jason Fitzpatrick is warranty-voiding DIYer and all around geek. When he's not documenting mods and hacks he's doing his best to make sure a generation of college students graduate knowing they should put their pants on one leg at a time and go on to greatness, just like Bruce Dickinson. You can follow him on Google+ if you'd like.

Any more photos of this, and any challanges / road block you had to over come. Looks like a really good job. I would love to know more as the girlfriend is always giving out about how my geekery is taking over the apartment.
Never mind I’m half asleep ….. complete missed the link the first time. :)
Very nice! I now have yet another project……

A “spare” closet in itself would be amazing to me!LOL

@JANET: Indeed the closet wasn’t spare.. It was originally dedicated to this very cause, just, I decided to REALLY clean the place up.
