Get Enhanced Speed Dial Goodness in Chrome and Iron with ChromePlus Dial

Have you been looking for a speed dial extension with a bit more under the hood and better functionality? Then join us as we take a look at ChromePlus Dial for Chrome and Iron.

When you first install the extension things look pretty bare as seen here.

The drop down menu for the search box allows for a nice selection of search sub-categories as well as other search engines. The list of sub-categories is available for each of the search engines shown here.

Hovering over the thumbnails provides a quick overview of how to customize them.

Clicking on the Settings/Options Icon for a thumbnail will open a window where you can edit the current URL or select a website for that individual thumbnail.

Note: You will need to click on the thumbnails afterwards in order to activate the thumbnail/screenshot for each.

You can access basic settings for the speed dial view or go directly to the more advanced settings.

The advanced settings are separated into three categories…first are the General Settings. You can really pack in the thumbnail dials if desired!

Followed by the Search Settings

And finally the Advanced Tab.

When you have everything set up the way you desire all that is left to do is start filling up the speed dial with all of your favorite websites!

Thanks for sharing. I’ve been using Speeddial 2 recently since the original Speeddial really was limited, and not updated in like forever. I’m going to give this a try. :-)

In this add-on, there is only one big deficiency. No support for shortcuts / hotkeys. Thats why, I think you can even compare it to Operas, Firefox speed dial. Example CTRL + 1 allows much faster surffing…

    Opera do it better…

OK, I’ve been using the “Speed Dial” Chrome extension which does pretty much the same thing. Is there a good reason to switch to this new kid off the block? It only has 39 users and 7 ratings at this time!

people who actually knows that addon from other browsers know that the lack of the support about the shortcuts/hotkeys is a BIG difference. and i emailed the creator from this addon for firefox users and he said that chrome doesn’t support that kind of modification to have the same thing for chrome as in firefox or opera
