How to Port Your Phone Number to Google Voice

If you’ve decided to switch full time to using your Google Voice number as your primary number (and there are certainly a slew of features to entice you to do so), here’s a simple guide to doing so.

Porting your existing number from your land line or your cell phone over to your Google Voice account is as simple as visiting your account and clicking Settings -> Change/Port.

Check out the video below to see what you need to do in, in addition to authorizing the port, to make sure everything goes smoothly with your service provider.

LAND LINE? LAND LINE? All I saw was mobile number……could it be true? Holding back my excitement for the moment..

I just got off the phone with Verizon and besides the fact that they don’t know what Google Voice is, there doesn’t appear to be a way around canceling your existing account… unbelievable really. I have a family plan for my wife and I. I did find out that if you do plan to bite the bullet and pay the cancellation fee, then you should make sure whatever number you leave behind (my wife’s in my case) is the primary on the account. Apparently if you don’t, then that number will be billed directly for all minutes and texts used on the family share account…sounds like a nightmare.

Long story short, I can port my number to Google Voice for $105 (cancel fee) + $20 (google fee) + Pain in my ass. $125 to port today or wait until November when my contract expires. Hmmmm

I downloaded one of your Wallpaper and it visually messed up my monitor. I have been using system restore and no matter what day I select it will not go back. Please advise me what I can do.

I downloaded one of the Wallpaper that is on your site. It has messed up the visual of my monitor. It is now tiny squares representing the flower wallpaper. Please, please advise me how I can correct this…get rid of the wallpaper picture. I have repeatedly tried to “system restore” with no luck. No matter what day I enter to restore to, it just won’t work. I have never had problems with system restore. Please help me, Damser Huron
