Google Updates Web-Based Mobile Weather App

Google has updated their web-based weather widget for mobile browsers. Simply search for “weather” using your smartphone to see a detailed and interactive weather widget at the top of the search results.

Prior to the update Google’s weather results were a static report not entirely different than the weather report you get if you search for weather in Google using your desktop browser. This update brings a cleaner and interactive interface. You not only see the current weather but you can slide your finger across the touch screen of your phone and view the projected weather for the next 12 hours. In addition the background gradient changes based on the time of day.

Search for “weather” using your mobile browser to try it out or read more at the link below.

Oddly, doesn’t seem to work on my ipad. You know, that device that doesn’t come with a weather app. :/ It will open on my iphone but, if I ‘Send to Safari’ (thinking I could try the URL on the ipad), it goes from Safari right into the App Store. Huh?
