Bubble Ball Displaces Angry Birds as Top Free iOS Game

Wildly popular physics-based game Angry Birds, from the development house Rovio, has finally been knocked off the number one slot in the App Store. Knocked off, that is, by a 14 year old boy with his own compelling physics-based game.

Robert Nay, a 14 year old from Utah, designed his game Bubble Ball around a simple premise. You have to navigate the ball through a variety of obstacles using tools like ramps, levers, and other objects to act upon the ball and get it over, under, and around obstacles. Check out the video below to see it in action:

I got this game and at first i couldn’t get past like level 3 because the “how to play” doesn’t mention that u can rotate blocks! Still can’t get that last level tho…

I downloaded it last week and it’s pretty fun. It’s cool to think that it was designed by a 14 year old. He definitely has some talent considering he is self taught.

Cool Game.. But, while this particular version of this game may have been done by that person, the design of this game is far from new.. We have the game Gravity on the Wii that is essentially the same as this. It’s awesome that he put together this version.. but it’s not a ‘new’ idea or anything. (Then again, neither was Angry Birds.. I’ve played MANY similar type games (often with soldiers/castles/cannonballs).. others ideas made different.. ya know?
