Hidden Tracks Your Stolen Mac; Free Until End of January
If you’ve got a Mac computer that you’d like to secure against theft–or at least be able to track down should it go missing–Mac-tracking tool Hidden is free until January 2011.
Normally $20, Hidden is free until the end of next month. You install the app on your Mac and activate it from another computer or your smartphone when your computer goes missing. Hidden sends you pictures of the person in front of the camera, sports location awareness to pinpoint them, and captures screenshots of activity on the computer so you can see what the thief is doing with your computer (and if they’re stupid enough to access their personal accounts even gather information about them).

So what if the thief covers up the camera? You don’t know who it is.
or simple reinstall the OS, maybe another one like Linux or Windows. :D
Well, let’s hope some thieves aren’t that savvy… =)
Is this offer valid worldwide?
Paul… if you can download it, you can use it !
And other comments before : of course, if the computer is tampered with, they can remove this (wisest ones would go a different way “without explaining how to hack it, it’s quite easy !!!” ;–)
Promo ended.

I actually put my mac out with the express intention of it getting stolen. When someone finally did steal it, I threw a party. Freedom from that infernal thing!
Without intentionally doing it, it’s quite difficult to get your computer stolen. If you like it, bring it with you or have that nice young man next to you watch it while you go to freshen up.
Hey Mom, shut up and reboot!
if you temper with it, reinstall windows, linux, cover the camera etc, its no longer a MAC, why not just steal an untempered windows/linux based computer?
This does not appear to be free anymore – the claim until end of January is a misprint?
