Share Webpages Easily in Firefox with Mozilla F1

Do you want a quick and easy way to share webpages in Firefox? Mozilla F1 makes sharing webpages as simple as possible using Twitter, Facebook, and Gmail.

Once you have installed the extension, you will see this drop-down area appear where you can select the service that you want to activate access for.

For our example we chose Twitter. You will need to log into the appropriate service as usual if browsing there normally.

After logging in you will need to authorize access for F1 to your account.

When you find a webpage that you want to share click on the Text Bubble Toolbar Button to open F1. All that you need to do is enter the desired text describing the webpage and click Share. Links for the webpages you share will be shortened using bit.ly.

Note: At this time it is not possible to move the F1 button from its’ current location in the Navigation Toolbar.

Here is our freshly shared webpage on Twitter. One thing we did notice is that the name of the webpage was not shared, so you will most likely want to add that in before clicking Share.

Want to see F1 in action? See just how it works in the following video.

Does it automatically shorten the URL?
    That’s good ;)

@Hatryst – Yes, it automatically shortens the URLs. ^_^ This is going to be an exceptionally wicked extension if they get more services built into it (which I believe should or will happen soon). ~_^

I agree this addon does show some promise, one thing I’ve noticed is you don’t appear to be able to enter your bit.ly account details, unless I’m missing something

@HermitPete – You will not need to enter any account details for bit.ly…F1 auto-converts the URL using bit.ly for you. ^_^

that’s all quite lovely. however, if you have gmail there’s a little add on which allow you to send page via gmail. seems simpler to me.
