Hotot is a Sleek Twitter Client for Ubuntu

Are you looking for a terrific Twitter client for your Ubuntu system? Then Hotot just may be the one for you with its’ phone app style transitional interface.

The easiest way to keep Hotot up to date (in addition to a smoother installation) is to manually add the PPAs (outlined in red) to your system’s software sources.

Once you have the PPAs added, type “Hotot” into the Ubuntu Software Center’s search bar and install it within moments.

When you sign into your Twitter account in Hotot, you will need to enter a PIN number to complete logging in. Use the URL in the upper part of the black area to authorize access for Hotot in your browser.

Here is what you will see when you enter the address in your favorite browser. Authorize access to receive the PIN number and enter it in the appropriate blank in Hotot.

After you are signed in, this is what things will look like. Across the top you will have: Refresh, Extensions, & More. You can see the Hotot Icon/Indicator Applet outlined in red in our taskbar.

Across the bottom you will have: Home Timeline, Mentions, Direct Messages, My Favorite Tweets, Retweets and Retweeted, Find Someone You Love, & Search For.

Clicking on the desired section/tab will access it using a sliding side-to-side transition. Hotot will also display small notifications to alert you as new items become available.

Is there a way to put a different URL shortener in Hotot like in Tweetdeck? I don’t like bit.ly.

    NIce, and i like its eye-candy ;)
When you tweet from it, does it display ‘via Hotot’ under the tweet?

@Marco Damaceno – Not at the moment, but it could possibly become a new extension perhaps depending on user demand/request. ~__^ It is still early in the development process, so I imagine that it would be included sooner or later. ^__^

@Hatryst – It really is a nice Twitter client and is now my #1 choice for such on my Ubuntu installs. ^__^ And yes, it does display “via Hotot” under the tweets. ^__^
