Another Great Defrag Utility – Smart Defrag
There are definitely a plethora of disk defragmenter utilities out there, some free and others commercial, in fact one of my favorites is Auslogics Disk Defrag. Windows Vista schedules your drives to be defragmented by default, and you can modify that schedule. Today we will look at a great free defrag utility that is fast and also includes an Auto Defrag function
The main interface is very slick and easy to use. The one feature which caught my eye right away was the analysis tool which brings back the XP defrag graphic to Vista.

After being analyzed you can check out a detailed report on the state of the fragmented files. A report will be generated after each defrag session as well.

One cool option that sets Smart Defrag apart from others is the Auto Defrag function that will defrag your most used files when the PC is idle. This is a function usually found in commercial programs such as Diskeeper. Here you can make changes to different settings or turn off the feature.

With Auto Defrag enabled it takes up very little system resources.

There is an easy to use defrag Schedule you can set up to your preferences.

If running Smart Defrag on Windows Vista make sure and disable the native defrag application simply by unchecking “Run on a schedule”.

Smart Defrag is a very nice feature rich free defrag utility that runs very fast and takes up little system resources. The extra bonus of automatic defrag definitely makes it worth checking out.
