Desktop Fun: Handwriting Style Fonts Collection Series 1

handwriting-fonts-collection-series-one-00

The regular fonts on your computer are perfect for your document and image work most of the time, but occasionally you need something unique with a bit of style instead. Handwriting styled fonts can add an elegant, casual, or fun touch to make those personal letters, cards, invitations, and image captions really stand out.

Note: To manage the fonts on your Windows 7, Vista, & XP systems see our article here.

Finally, an end to handwritten assignments :D

  2. Asian Angel

@Hatryst – Yay! ~_^ Those pesky handwritten assignments do not stand a chance now ha ha! ^_^

  3. CeliaW

Some of these look great – now I have to work out how to install them in Ubuntu!

  4. longtom

    Thank you for the collection!

“Some of these look great – now I have to work out how to install them in Ubuntu!”

Copy them into the following directory:

    /home/user/.fonts

If you don’t have that directory, create it.

  5. Asian Angel

@CeliaW – You are not the only one who is thinking of adding these to Ubuntu. ~_^

  6. Asian Angel

@longtom – Thanks for the tip and helping CeliaW out! ^_^

  7. UUUnicorn

Hmmm…. Any way to add them into Linux Mint 9 Xfce, please?

Thank you, thank you, thank you! (*Bowing repeatedly*)

  8. Barkhat

For Linux Mint, I believe you follow the same instructions as for Ubuntu.

  9. Ian Anderson

Downloaded and installed fine, but I couldn’t get the quotation marks to display properly in the two I tried, just a square box appeared. Strange as the marks are included in the letter list……..

  10. LoverBoy

    Nice collection Angel.
But you missed one , my favourate “Later On” font.
If you want to add it in above package then here you will get it http://www.fontstock.net/2249/later-on.html

  11. Omar Hafiz

These fonts combined with Speech Recognition, I can do assignments while watching CSI.

  12. Asian Angel

@Ian Anderson – I had a problem with that on one of the fonts too (Cursive Handwriting Tryout). :( My work-around was to insert the punctuation, etc. using a different font. Not the most efficient method, but effective though. ^_^

  13. Asian Angel

@LoverBoy – It was hard to narrow down to these 20 out of the 650+ fonts I looked through. >_> There will be a series 2 soon enough though. ~_^

  14. Asian Angel

    @Omar Hafiz – Oh my! ~_^

  15. herval

    Very helpful indeed.. thanks!

  16. LoverBoy

@ Asian Angel- ok i understand its really tuff job to collect good needed thing , I appreciate your efforts. Thanks once again for your work :)

  17. Viren

Is there a way where I can use my own handwriting to create a font ?

  18. Asian Angel

@Viren – There is a way to do it at the website that I have listed below but it costs $9.95 (plus $5.00 if you upload both template pages), so this may not be something that appeals to you. :(

Installed and working fine, but period(.), comma(,), exclamation(!), or question mark(?) works. It works only with alphabet and numbers. How can I insert these quotation marks?

  22. John Bosco

I’m crazy in collecting various fonts, now i got new members to this family. Thanks a lot..

  23. heyric

I dont find the link for the font displayed on the very first image of your article.

  24. heyric

    I found it!

  25. Bert

    Hi,
    Excellent set of fonts.
Do you have, or know of a list of fonts specifically geared toward readability? For an intermediate computer user class I present at a senior center. Thanx.

  26. Viren

    Thanks Asian Angel

  27. Asian Angel

@UUUnicorn – Check your inbox. ^_^ I sent out an e-mail with an answer and a backup method to you. ^_^

  28. Asian Angel

@Bert – The best suggestion I have is to look through the categories using the link below. Looking through those will help you find just the style of fonts that you feel will work best for your class. In fact you will most likely find a LOT of fonts to tempt you there. ~_^ It is hard to just stop with a few once you get to looking around there! ^_^

    @Viren – You are very welcome. ^_^

  30. rroberto

The font iI like best is the one in your headline. It doesn’t look like any of the choices beneath. Is it available? From what link, please?

  31. Asian Angel

@rroberto – Actually the one in the header screenshot is the Libby Script font shown above. ^_^
