How the Kindle Paperwhite Works

Take a look at the guts of the tiny and bright Kindle Paperwhite to see how Amazon packed in a well illuminated front-lit screen, a high-capacity battery, and the hardware to run the ebook reader in such a small space.

The exploded parts view and explanation comes to us courtesy of The New York Times and offers us a peek at everything from the light guides to the power management module inside the Paperwhite as well as how the e-ink itself works.

    Very interesting, Amazon.com, but when will you make Kindle Paperwhite available to those of us outside the US? Why not now? We are all customers, wherever we live.

    I don’t get it DIC. I have one and I am 12,000 kms from the US. (Oz)

    I got one of these for my birthday. Now I am learning what I do not like about e-readers.

    I have an older (original) kindle. Does anyone know how they compare? Been thinking of updating to the paperwhite.

    @grayboy

    Good morning, neighbour (Kiwi here, mate).

    I have Kindle 3rd Gen. When I looked to buy a PaperWhite, on Amazon.com, I found that It was only available in US and Canada. Said I could only have a model of those available in my territory, which did not include the PaperWhite.

    Paperwhite started shipping in UK just before Christmas. I got mine delivered on 27th December
